We have been farmers all of our lives and owned a herd of regular size stock cows for several years.  The cows were getting some age on them, so we sold them.

After a year went by we missed having no cows on the farm.  Terry, my husband, wanted to look into Miniature cattle.  We spent HOURS on the internet that winter looking at different breeds and talking to several Miniature Cattle breeders.

We liked the looks of the Miniature Herefords.  We spent many more hours on the internet trying to find some for sale.  We had no intention of showing them, we simply wanted them for the novelty and our desire to have cattle on the farm again.

We found a gentleman in SW Iowa that had two 2 year old heifers for sale.  We brought them home on March 8, 2008.

We found our bull at the Lolli Brothers sale barn on July 11, 2008 in Macon, Missouri, where they hold exotic animal auctions periodically throughout the year.  We purchased a nice little yearling that was well built for a future herd sire. We named him Macon and the rest is history.

Our Miniature Hereford Cattle
This is Macon as a yearling (left) the day we brought him home.  He is barely hip high on my husband's six foot frame.
Macon (right) grew up to be a handsome gentleman.

Macon is for sale @ $1,100

This is Jazzy introducing her bull calf born on 6/18/2011.

We are retaining Jazzy for our cow/calf herd.
These are 2009 heifer calves. Macon is their sire. Jazzy is the dam of the heifer on the right.

Both heifers have been sold w/ calves at side.

Both heifers produced heifer calves in July 2011.

This is Cissy, a registered Miniature Dexter cow.  We aquired her in July 2011 as a bred cow.  She is bred to a Miniature Jersey and is due to calve in early 2012.
